Guelph Running. Well done guys!
If you want to be a world-class runner, you better move to the Ontario city of Guelph.
In 1997, Dave Scott-Thomas was working as a coach at the National Coaching Institute in Victoria when he heard through the grapevine that the University of Guelph was going to shutter its track and field program. He asked the university if he could take it over, and it agreed, although the school warned him there was almost no budget whatsoever and that he was far too qualified for the job.

Be here now
Our aspiration, our calling, our desire for a genuine life,
is to see the truth of who we really are-
that the nature of our being is connectedness and love,
not the illusion of a separate self to which our suffering clings.
It is from awareness that life can flow through us,
the unconditioned manifesting freely as our conditioned body.
And what is the path?
To learn to reside in whatever life presents.
To learn to attend to all those things
that block the flow of a more open life;
and to see them as the very path to awakening-
all the constructs, the identities,
the holding back, the protections,
all the fears, the self-judgments, the blame-
all that separates us from letting life be.
Time is fleeting.
Don't hold back.
Appreciate this precious life.

From the ipod..
Burning down the highway skyline,
on the back of a hurricane,
that started turning when,
You were young.

Efficiency is the key
A particular shot or way of moving the ball can be a player's personal signature, but efficiency of performance is what wins the game for the team.

Can exercise keep you young?
Can Exercise Keep You Young?
By GRETCHEN REYNOLDS
We all know that physical activity is beneficial in countless ways, but even so, Dr. Mark Tarnopolsky, a professor of pediatrics at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, was startled to discover that exercise kept a strain of mice from becoming gray prematurely.

Does Loneliness Reduce the Benefits of Exercise?
By Gretchen Reynolds, NY Times
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, this seems the proper moment to ask whether being in a relationship changes how you exercise and, perhaps even more intriguing, whether relationships affect how exercise changes you.

Running technique article I wrote for the Times Colonist
This article encapsulates some of my thoughts on running biomechanics.
Forward we go!
We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. - Walt Disney
Running is a simple sport, but it's clearly not easy- this is what makes it such a great challenge. I'm a strong believer in doing preventative independent exercises as a means building a strong foundation.
They are free, relatively easy and specific to the task of running.....

It’s Time to Make a Coffee Run...
By Gina Kolata
WELDON JOHNSON first tried caffeine as a performance enhancer in 1998. He was not a coffee drinker but had heard that caffeine could make him run faster. So he went to a convenience store before a race and drank a cup of coffee.
For the first time in his life, he ran 10 kilometers in less than 30 minutes.

In honour of Pre
You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement.

Always remain skeptical- Check out the video below!

The whole Power Balance debate is now winding down a bit, although it is still far from over. On the heels of their announcement, here in America New Balance finds themselves in a similar position as there are threats of a lawsuit against their WW850 "toning shoes." The shoes, which Reebok and Skechers also produce models, make wild claims about burning more calories and toning certain muscles, but the basis of the potential lawsuit is that one consumer injured herself after using them. Apparently Reebok and Skechers also face lawsuits.
A common theme arose in the discussion around our Power Balance posts, and that was surprise from you, our audience, that people actually believed the claims in the first place. It seems self-evident to most of you to be skeptical and wary of these kinds of claims, because you have the training or inclination to be somewhat skeptical, and your "science filter" (or maybe your "BS" filter!) is always on. But in the broader population this characteristic is lacking.
